I was born in the small farmers town Northallerton in North Yorkshire UK. my love for drawing came after i visited my great grandads Farm Sowerby Grange, Sutton under Cotcliffe, where I saw horses and foals for the first time, after that i became obsessed with horses and began drawing them at 4 years old. I would spend a lot of time always drawing them. I fell in love with most animals. Playing with animal hospital, watching documentaries and just learning more about them than relaying that into drawings.
I did drawing through out my shop years, but I chose to do double award GCSE Art. Where i learned various skills but never with pencils. This influenced me to do more painting. Though we never really covered any form of animal art I used what i learnt into my hobby art. I also studied AS level fine art which again was various mediums but never Pencils or animals. But I always continued my hobby art in painting animals.
I first started with pencils in 2018 as a distraction after loosing my mum to cancer at a young age. I had seen an artist able to get such fine details that I could never painting so decided to purchase my first set of polychromos. At the time i still kept this as a hobby whilst working in make up. During lockdown i had lot my passion for make up and decided to throw myself into a big A2 horse portrait and start a TikTok account for my art.I had no idea how fast i would get commission enquiries and my account grow, it went straight into filling a full time job where I still do now along being a full time carer for my son with high care and disability needs. I love being able to do my job and able to put my son first, I am my own boss and don’t have to be worried about putting everything down for his care. It can be tricky to balance but we make it work. He’s often a huge part of my live streams. My dream is to be earning enough to support us on days out to zoos and steam trains as well as basic life.
I love being commissioned to draw peoples pets from all over the word, there’s something so special using a photo but not just drawing what you see in the photo, but adding every ounce of character the owner will tell me from their pet. The biggest part capturing everything in the eyes.
